WORKSHOPS
If the statements below ring true, I think we’ll get along:
You like practical, helpful advice that isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ approach
You’d like a mentor who approaches your project with warmth and a sense of humour
You’re switched off by writing advice that is a bit ‘woo-woo’
You like prompts, tasks, and methods you can continue to use in your own time
All my workshops to date have sold out, so sign up to my newsletter for early bird access if you want to bag a place.

TESTIMONIALS
MENTORING
I offer a very small number of mentoring places to writers who want to work one-to-one on their fiction.
Writers come to me at various stages of a project, but the link between them all is a passion for their story and a desire to reach a target with support from someone who offers clear, confident advice and down-to-earth guidance to help them reach their personal milestones.
Writers may use me for:
A sounding board to help brainstorm plot solutions
Workshopping a story idea
An editorial guide to work through problem areas
A confidence building cheerleader to motivate and re-ignite a passion for your project
A warm and friendly deadline setter to help push you to meet your project targets
Industry advice and guidance
Previous mentees have:
Secured an agent
Edited their manuscripts before submitting to a publisher’s open call
Filled gaps in their plot outline and subsequently finished a full length novel
Strengthened and understood their character and narrative arcs
Achieved offers of publication
How many sessions would I need?
If you are looking for a one-off session to clarify your plot, characters, and pacing, or have a specific barrier you need help working towards, a Plot Cloudbusting session may be right for you (more below).
If it’s regular, pragmatic support that you need, booking a series of 4-6 sessions tends to ensure the most meaningful and useful schedule. However, this can be extended at any time. Depending on your time commitments, sessions can run every fortnight or every month to give you time to work on the targets and tasks we discuss when we see each other.
If you have written material that will form the basis of your mentoring, I will read it in advance and sessions will be planned according to areas of specific focus. Details of reading charges are below.
NO MENTORING AVAILABILITY UNTIL JAN 1ST 2026
MENTORING PRICES
Please note that the below indicates a price increase from January 1st 2026
Book Mentoring
£90 per hour
(Minimum four sessions)
If you would like support to reach a specific target, an experienced eye on extracts of your work, and clear, actionable next steps, Book Mentoring may be for you.
This fee covers:
One hour Zoom session
1-3 page report with clear, actionable next steps
In advance of our first session, I will read any written material you would like to work on in advance. There is an upfront reading fee attached to this:
0.006p per word = Example: 80,000 = £480
After each session, clear, actionable steps will be detailed within a 1-3 page report so that writers can make targeted steps towards their writing goals. We will also decide on ‘homework’ to be completed in advance of the next session, such as redrafting key sections. There is no additional reading fee for ‘homework’ that you may send me.
Book Mentoring + Editing
£90 per hour (pro-rata)
If you would like the same support and cheerleading as a regular mentoring session with the addition of detailed, clear, and actionable editorial notes, Book Mentoring + Editing may be a great fit.
This fee covers:
Pre-reading + track changes and developmental notes on the manuscript
One hour Zoom session
One - two page report with clear, actionable next steps
During our introduction chat, we’ll discuss whether you would like to share key extracts or full, book length mentoring.
For example, if you would like me to read and edit up to 7500 words of your manuscript plus a one-hour Zoom session and follow-up report, this would require three hours (£270). Writers who would like feedback and editing on a full length manuscript can contact me for a full fee breakdown.
Before committing to a series of mentoring sessions, I offer a free fifteen-minute chat to discuss the nature of your project and what you’re hoping to achieve from working together.

What is it like to be mentored?
“Abigail is an outstanding mentor. My writing development has been accelerated since working with her. From character development through to line editing, I learn so much in our sessions. Abigail gives astute and thoughtful feedback and she is also a great support during moments of self-doubt. I would highly recommend Abigail whether you are an established writer or someone just starting out. The investment is absolutely worth it.”
“My session with you has been like writing rocket fuel. I’ve been writing like a demon and already got to my 7,500 word target for next month”
“Abigail gave excellent advice and support that helped me find what my story was really about. She asked insightful questions to get to the heart of what I was struggling with - for me it was structure - and helped make sure everything in my story was earning its place. She is hugely knowledgeable about contemporary fiction and a joy to chat to when you are feeling deflated or lost in your story. “
“Abigail has been invaluable in the development of my novel. As a mentor, she introduced me to different ways of writing and editing my character arcs. This has enabled me to see the journeys of my characters more clearly and ensure that there is consistency and clear growth and progression. Thank you so much.”
“Abigail helped me think critically about my main character's development and how it builds holistically with the rest of the plot. Our sessions always felt like deep discussions and were really enjoyable. I came away with a greater awareness of my development areas in my writing.”
"I really enjoyed working with Abigail and looked forward to our fortnightly sessions. She was friendly and supportive and took the time to understand my story and the motivations of each character. Abigail’s feedback was always spot-on, constructive and professional. She gave me the confidence to keep going and helped me to believe in my own writing abilities."
“Not only do you have great tips and direction, I’m always impressed by your ability to sort through the minutia and distill out the real issue is standing in the way of productivity.”
